We’ve created different types of servers for players that have a distinct preference for either PvP or PvE. One important thing to note is that data cannot be shared between servers. Currently, players are not able to transfer account data from one server to another. This means, if you want to play together with friends on another server, you will have to create a new character and restart the game from scratch. However, all your old account data will still be retained on the original server, and you can go back to it at any time.

 

Worlds

       In order to ease server congestion, each server is split into multiple “Worlds”. Players can freely switch between Worlds within the same server. All gear and items currently in your inventory will stay with you when you switch Worlds, but any buildings you have constructed will remain in the World you created them in. You can, however, use the Move Territory function to pack up your buildings and relocate them to a new World, allowing you to join friends or join a new Warband.

There are some contestable areas in certain areas of the map, which feature medium-sized Strongholds and Resource Points which can be occupied by players. These areas are not split into different Worlds, meaning all players on a given server will be able to see each other when inside a contestable area. Contestable areas are dangerous. Players inside these areas are forced to participate in PvP combat, i.e. attacking other players and looting their resources.

 

Chaos States

A Chaos state is a state that a player may enter passively as a result of certain in-game actions. Alternatively, players can also actively choose to enter Chaos state (by holding down P). Players who have entered a Chaos state are also referred to as “Chaos players”. After entering a Chaos state, you can attack other players and their buildings. It does, however, mean you are also vulnerable to being attacked by others (rules vary depending on server type, see the following section for details). When in a Chaos state, players have an additional stat, called “Chaos”. The player will gain a certain amount of Chaos upon entering a Chaos state - the exact amount depends on how the player entered the Chaos state. Chaos Players can perform hostile actions toward other players to increase their Chaos. They will remain in a Chaos state until their Chaos falls to 0.

Players cannot team up with players who are not in the same state, i.e. Chaos players cannot team up with non-Chaos players. If a player on your team enters a Chaos state, they will automatically be removed from the team. If four Chaos players team up, they will all remain in a Chaos state until the team is disbanded. It is also important to note that players below level 10 enjoy a Novice Protection Period, during which they are unable to enter a Chaos state, and are invulnerable to damage from Chaos players.

 

The Difference Between PvP and PvE Servers

There are some significant differences between PvP and PvE Servers (besides the letter “E”). We would encourage all players to give our PvP servers a try for the fullest gameplay experience. However, for players who are mainly interested in the exploration and dungeon elements of our game and generally dislike PvP combat, a PvE server might be the preferred choice. In PvP servers, Chaos players can attack any other player of level 10 or above at any time, regardless of whether the other player is currently in a Chaos state or not. In PvE servers, on the other hand, Chaos players can only attack other Chaos players and their buildings. In PvE servers, non-Chaos players will be invulnerable to PvP damage.

In PvP servers, if you build and activate Turrets or another type of attack unit in your Territory, these units will attack any Chaos player that comes within range. In PvE servers, your buildings are only vulnerable to attack from Chaos players during the Territory Purification process, and your Turrets or other attack units will only attack Chaos players during this time.

 

Echo Stones

       The elusive Ancient Ones - remnants of life swallowed up by rift space - roam about freely in the game’s main map. An Ancient One’s physical form is a highly unstable thing, and occasionally, a small piece of their body will become separated from its main form and fall to the ground. This is an Echo Stone. An Echo Stone still retains traces of the Ancient One to which it once belonged.

Get up close to an Echo Stone, and you’ll be able to hear a sinister whispering or wailing. These sounds are enough to cause irreversible damage to a normal human mind, but you - a Meta-Human - are able to withstand the onslaught, and can secure the Echo Stone inside your Cradle. Take it back to your Territory and process it to remove the Ancient One’s dangerous traces, and extract the highly valuable items contained within.

As a Meta-Human, you can withstand an Echo Stone in a way that regular humans could not. However, it’s still a great burden, even for you. When carrying an Echo Stone in your inventory, you will be forced to enter a Chaos state, making you vulnerable to attack by other players. You will also be unable to fast travel. Under these circumstances, finding a way to safely transport the Echo Stone Territory can be a real challenge. And even if you make it home in one piece, the danger is still far from over...
